Switch to the cloud

Yesterday I made a decision, a very hard decision, to move all of gridplay stuff from one server hosting provider to another.
This move is mostly to cut overhead costs but also noticed a increase in response time.
Our stuff where its been hosted physically also changed from Montreal to Toronto.
So today I am proud to say that GridPlay is not only in the cloud now but more closer to being a 100% Ontario based company.
Our new hosting provider is Digital Ocean, thankfully when i booted up what they call a Droplet they had a Toronto option so i went with it.
Was alot of work to move all the domains over and SSL encrypt them but its all done now.

So what this mean for the future of GridPlay?
Well with us in the cloud it not only reduced costs but can let us scale as we need to depending on demand of our service.
We are also looking into server replication to other locations around the globe so that you get the fastest response time.
Our main server will still be in Toronto Canada.

Domains are still slow to respond.
We looking into that too, our current domain provider, NameCheap, has been doing alot of changes on their end which seems to be slowing down their service
We are seeing the slow down on their website too along with loading issues.
With us being with Digital Ocean now we are looking into moving our domains to another provider hopefully with DO.

So thats what happened why stuff was not working with our server yesterday. Hopefully today they are alot faster with more improvements coming.
