So few years ago i did a major boo boo. I got like 5 virtual private servers which was costing me like $150 cad a month. SO to speed up managing all of them i got 2 dedicated servers for the same price. Thankfully OVH let me do that. 2 Dedi's instead of 5 VPS's for the same monthly price.
Sadly on a 2 year term agreement, meaning i cant cancel for 2 years.
More good news is that after some time OVH let me break out of the agreement for the 2nd dedi as i was not able to afford that can eat.
Fast forward to last month (how this relate to Opensim?)
SINCE we have 1 dedi till June of 2025, a month ago i decided to try my hand at running a OpenSim grid. Already had the domain for it because i tried before when we had the 2nd server.
So off i went, customizing the opensim code for the grid, adding in support for prem and prem plus, fixing some bugs, got inworld Abuse Reports working, starting to work on getting land auctions enabled, doing the website from scratch. All while advertising the grid on multiple platforms like Hypersim Business and the popular OpenSimWorld.
TODAY! Oh yes TODAY, and remember its only 11:11am right now on the east coast as im typing this.
Since REjoining OSW, theres been alot of toxicity on that site and the moderators do nothing about it.
Today I got fed up and left. Deleted the inworld beacons and logged out, deleted the bookmark. I left X because of it going toxic so i left OSW too.
Not to long ago i got hypersim.life domain as a direct competitor to OSW. Over the next few months i will work on this with inworld beacons to rez on your land.
Opensim is reverse engineer server code of SecondLife writen in the c sharp language. It allows others to make their own virtual world using a supported viewer like Firestorm.
Doesnt have alot of content like SL has or cool things working like getting a home or mainland tiers but does have HYPERGRID! Hypergrid lets you visit other worlds without having to sign up to access that world.

Anyways thats what I been doing lately. Am i leaving SL? Nah im just bored with it.
So why make this grid? Well i like to code and challenge myself and trust me its been a challenge but i been having fun with it.
Also KINDA need money. I like to take GridPlay to the next step… know what thats another blog.
